Permaculturing in Portugal

One family's attempts to live in a more planet-friendly way

Quinta wildlife #6

The Moorish or Crocodile gecko (Tarentola mauritanica) on the underside of the roof tiles in the casinha. There’s a colony of around 5 of them. This one’s regrowing its tail.

Sorry, but your picture shows Tarentola mauritanica, the much more common gecko in Portugal. Hemidactylus is rare and occurs, more or less, only along the Spanish border.

Thank you! I was unable to find much information in English about these geckos so very much appreciate the correction.
