Help us recover this iconic structure from the fires
Our Geodome Greenhouse was badly damaged in the October 2017 fires. Only the framework and scaffolding survived unscathed … and the banana! … but the made-to-measure heavy-duty UV-resistant PVC cover, aquaponics system, subterranean heating and cooling system, rainwater collection system, the bathroom, compost tea-making station, worm farm, growing tubs, seed trays, etc, were all lost.
Although a recent addition, the greenhouse was quickly becoming a focal element of the quinta, not least for the number of interconnected functions we’d managed to stack into a 7m diameter structure. It teaches very clearly how systems can be integrated into something much greater than the sum of their parts.
Sponsorship is invited to help us do this. The aim will be to make restoring some of the systems – like the aquaponics and SHCS – into courses which sponsors will be invited to attend. Raising money to pay for a new PVC cover is the bulk of the target.
